DVB-C

Mystique CaBiX C2 DVB-C

Köpte ett DVB-C kort för att kunna spela in TV till servern (Tele2). Inklusive en CAM-läsare. Beställt från dvbshop.net (de). Totalt ~1200kr inkl frakt och avgifter.

Projektet blir till att börja med baserat på mythtv (backend+webgui). Senare kanske jag investerar i en frontend.

Update 090219: Hämtade kortet på posten idag. Nu ska det igång!
Update 090411: Kortet lirar bra i Linux. För att CI ska lira med CAM krävdes senaste dvbcore från linuxtv CVS. FutureCard Cardsplitter lirar inte (med Conax CAM och Tele2 Abb.) Skall testa SmartWi. Annars får det bli tvillingkort.
Update 0905xx: SmartWi fungerar med detta kort. Dock fungerade den splittern inte med min digitalbox (smartbox, tele2)… Så jag lämnade tillbaka den. CSPro64 är det enda hoppet… Men tills vidare kommer jag nog köra tv-servern även som front (när jag flyttat från xen till kvm), med lång hdmi-kabel.

Logitech Harmony 525

Köpte en Logitech Harmony 525, för jag är så trött på alla fjärrar… Visserligen använder vi “bara” tre st. Men det finurliga med dessa modeller är ju att den hanterar sk. aktiviteter. Dvs när jag vil kolla på TV så slår den på TV:n samt digitalboxen och byter rätt ingångs-kanal på TV:n. Och samma sak när man stänger av. Allts stängs av med ett knapptryck.

Kommer använda den med: Samsung 40M86BD, Popcorn Hour A100, Smartbox digitalbox, Xbox 360 och kanske nån gång Xbox.

Nu har jag ju inte installerat allt, så det återstår att se hur bra den kommer att fungera.

Testing Shozu on the E71

Shozu is an online service that helps you post text and upload pictures and videos online. I’ve configured the ones I use. Flickr, Google blogger, Picasa, twitter and via email to Evernote. It supports many different mobile phones. I use the Nokia E71, which although it has uploadingfeatures built-in – it cannot upload to all theese services. And Shozu can send one upload to multiple online services. http://www.shozu.com

Digikam centralized in Xen guest

I’m using Digikam on my laptop to manage my photos. I recently bought a new camera using. And now I’m trying to setup an centralized environment on my server (running xen). Although the thought of editing high-resolution photos through VNC doesn’t seem like a great idea, it seems possible to at least use the tagging and managing features in Digikam. Using X11 forwarding is even slower, especially when displaying the images. The tests I’ve done so far has been over wifi (11G) , so if I would use wired LAN it might work good enough. The original idea on how to transfer the images to the server was simply to connect the camera directly via USB (ptp), passed through to the virtual guest server. But that just doesn’t seem to work. The passthru possibilities in Xen isn’t good enough. I’ve managed to get mass-storage devices to function, using pci-passthru, but my camera can only handle USB-ptp mode. So for now, as a workaround, I’ve setup a samba share on the network for importing pictures (basicly a predefined folder on the virtual server). And I’m thinking about buying a card-reader to the server. If anyone got any tips on this, please let me know.

Vibestreamer “detached” on Linux server


I’ve setup my new Vibestreamer server in the following environment:

– Ubuntu 8.04 (hardy) running Xen as host with:
– Ubuntu 8.04 (hardy) as guest with:
– VNC4Server (Xvnc) with:
– XFCE4 (single session) with:
– Wine (default) running:
– Vibestreamer 3.0a4

This allows me to connect and administrate my running Vibestreamer-server from any PC using SSH-tunnel and any VNCClient, or webbrowser connecting to a port forwarded to the VNC4Server included Java-VNC-client.

I’m also looking at using Xrdp as an external portal to my network.
